Liam's 4 year check up & other updates

First up, some stats:

Height: 41 inches (67th percentile)
Weight: 36 lbs (52nd percentile)

At his 3 year check up, he was 38.5 inches and 33 lbs so he's grown 2.5 inches taller and weighs 3 pounds more than he did a year ago.  And for another comparison, at Jake's 4 year check up, he was 38.75 inches tall and 33 lbs.  So basically, Liam was the same size at age 3 that Jake was at age 4 :)  Which explains why Liam is almost always a size ahead in clothing over where Jake was!  (in fact, I'm pretty sure that they will be able to share clothes sooner rather than later....) 

Everything else at the check up looked good for this happy kid; at his last visit, he still had 1 stubborn tube in his left ear, but that has since fallen out so we don't have to worry about getting it removed.  We are grateful that the tubes made such a huge difference for him while they were in and we are very happy that he never had to have them replaced.  Hopefully we're past most of his ear issues. 

He got his shots like a champ (last set until he's 10 or so), and was super cooperative, even though our pediatrician took for-e-ver to make it into the room (and he was actually examined twice, a physicians assistant in training did a "practice" exam on him first, then our actual pediatrician did one) 

My only concern going into the appointment was Liam's speech; he still says a lot of his letters incorrectly (most notably his Ls, so when he says his name it comes out as Yiam, and sometimes he says his Ls as Ws...he struggles with Rs, too, those tend to come out as Ws)  Thankfully, the doctor wasn't concerned yet and said there's a good chance he will outgrow it by kindergarten, and if not, they will evaluate him in school at that time if they feel it's necessary and we can go from there.  So at least we don't have to worry about it right now (and to be honest, I kind of like the way he says those things!!)

He's starting to wean himself off of naps (at home at least, he always naps at preschool); I knew the day would come, and even though I adore those afternoon naps when we're home, sometimes they do get in the way of trying to plan things in the afternoon.  So it's nice that if necessary, he can now power through the afternoon...although it's still a toss up, sometimes he's totally fine and just goes to bed early...other days, he falls apart in the late afternoon/early evening and it's miserable.  So, if we have something going on in that late afternoon/early evening time, I really push to try to get him to nap so that he's not a mess wherever we are.  Most of the time he will comply...if I let him sleep on his floor in his sleeping bag.  Fair enough.

And he is FINALLY getting to the point where, if we let him stay up late, he will actually make up for it by sleeping in the next day.  Hallelujah!!!  I really didn't think we were ever going to get to this point; for so long he would wake up at his usual time (a disturbingly early 5:30am) no matter what time he had gone to bed the night before.  So this new development is so exciting to us!! 

So that's what's going on in Liam's world right now...happy, healthy, and ready to take on year 2 of preschool next year! 

Liam's 3 year check up

It was a few weeks late, but yesterday was Liam's 3 year check up. Drumroll for the stats, please...

Height: 38.5 inches (73rd percentile)
Weight: 33 lbs ((63rd percentile)

Looking back at Jake's 3 year check up, he was 37.5 inches and 30 lbs, so Liam definitely still has a little bit of height and weight on him :)

Everything else was good, he amazed the doctor as usual with his talent of holding perfectly still like a statue during the exam, not flinching at anything that's done to him.  While I'd love to think that it's due to an awesome parental upbringing, I think the truth is that he's in it for the free pretzel and sticker he gets on his way out of the office if he was well-behaved during the visit. 

His left ear tube is somehow still in place (he lost the right one a year ago) so I guess it's still doing its job.  He had one ear infection in recent months, but it was in the right ear so at least there's still one tube in there. 

He's been transitioning into the preschool room over the past week at daycare, and he's set to go there full-time next week.  (*GULP*)  Some days this week, well...let's just say he wasn't thrilled with heading over there even for part of the day.  He adores his teachers in his current classroom, and repeatedly tells us that he doesn't want to leave them.  The other day he went over (after throwing a massive fit in the morning over it, the kind where he turned his entire body into a noodle and collapsed on the floor in a fit of his own tears.  Parents, you know what I'm talking about) but once he got there, the teachers said he did a great job and wasn't upset at all.  As I was buckling him into his carseat after school, I said "So I heard you had a great time at preschool today!  Are you excited to go back tomorrow?"  His response was a deadpan "No, mommy.  I am never going back there again". 

Well then....

The other aspect of his transition is that they expect him to be potty-trained for preschool.  Thus far our level of success there has hovered somewhere around a zero.  Ok, ok, so maybe not that bad...but not good.  He can go on the potty.  Sometimes he does it.  But more often than not, he simply chooses to not do it.  I'm pretty sure he's been using it as a stall tactic because he told me that if he didn't go on the potty, they wouldn't move him to preschool.  Therefore, I'm hoping that two things happen next week: 1. he realizes that he's going there, regardless of the potty status and he will just cave in and start doing it and 2. that he's inspired/motivated/peer pressured into going once he's over there since pretty much every other kid will be potty trained.

Fingers crossed for me, please.

Our little 3 year old monster!

Liam's 2.5 year check up and some general updates

Liam had his 2.5 year check up last week (no more shots until he's 4, woohoo!) and here are the stats:

Height: 37.25 inches (74th percentile)
Weight: 31 lbs, 12 oz (71st percentile)
Head: 50.5 cm (78th percentile)

So, he's a bigger guy (which we knew) but at least he's proportional! :)  It also explains why a lot of his 3T clothes fit him perfectly.  He has developed a new nickname in the past few months, we now refer to him a lot as "Little".  It started when one day, Jake was standing next to him and saying "I'm taller than you are, Liam...look, I'm big!" and Liam responded "You big, I the little!" and Jake started calling him Little.  It stuck after that, and now I feel it is one of those fun, ironic nicknames...you know, how they call the 6.5 foot, 250 pound guy in the bar Tiny?  :)  So yeah, Liam now has his very own bar nickname.

The rest of the appointment was fine, he is right on track for his age in terms of development.  His one remaining tube (left ear) is still in tact, so hopefully we can get through this winter without any infections and we'll be able to skip getting the right one re-inserted. 

The only issue he's having right now is some bad cradle cap that I just can't get to clear up.  We've tried all of the home remedies and we've tried Head & Shoulder shampoo, but no luck so far.  The doctor said since we've done all of that, the next step would be the pediatric dermatologist. Someone also suggested trying the Neutrogena T-Gel, so we're going to give that a shot before making an appointment for him.

He's full of words and many important things to tell you these days!  Seriously, sometimes the kid talks nonstop, it's adorable since it feels like not that long ago, he had so little things to say!  He loves to sing and dance (and eat, as evidenced by the stats listed above), and probably more than anything in the world, he loves his big bro.  His favorite shows right now are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Wild Kratts, and he's obsessed with all of the Christmas specials I've DVRd so far, his favorite being "Prep and Landing".  But the first Prep and Landing, not the second....that causes some fighting in our house, depending on whose turn it is to select the show.

He's been more into puzzles lately, he still loves to color and play with play doh (*shudder*).  He can count up to 20, though he will miss a number here and there sometimes, and he knows his ABCs, as well as all of the basic shapes and colors.   That's a wrap on this little cutie!!

Liam's 2 Year Check Up/ENT visit

 We were a little late with it, but we had Liam's 2 year check up last week. This kid LOVES going to the doctor. (and for once, there is no sarcasm behind that statement, he really does love it!)  He gets so excited when I tell him we're going there, he's super cooperative, and the rest of the day he walks around showing everyone the sticker he gets at the end of each visit saying, "Liam-so bwave!" :)  (it helped that there were no shots this time around, too!) 

Here are the stats:

Weight: 29 lbs, 6 oz (66th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (64th percentile)
Head circumference: 50 cm (81st percentile!)

To compare, here are Jake's stats from his 2 year visit:

Weight: 27 lbs (30th percentile)
Height: 33 inches (20th percentile)

So, definitely a bit of a difference between them!!  When I was looking back at my previous posts to find Jake's stats, they were listed in his 2 year check up post, which had a pretty funny story I had completely forgotten about, I'll C&P it here:

 Last night, we had Jake's 2 year check up...for some reason, our kid is absolutely terrified of the scale and threw a fit when the nurse tried to put him on it. That was strike one against her. Strike 2 was when she came in the room to give him a shot (the 2nd half of his H1N1 vaccine); he didn't cry or even flinch, but he must have been annoyed by it because after she was done, he stood up, looked right at her, pointed to the door and said "Go."

Other than that, everything went well and everything looked good and right on track. The weight was a big guesstimate, as he was fully clothed with his coat on and had to get an unscientific measurement of Brian getting on the scale with him, then weighing just Brian and figuring out the difference.

Definitely a strong resemblance.  The rest of the 2 year check up went well; he's obviously thriving in the weight and height department, so the dr. said we could cut back to skim milk if we wanted to do so.  He was still on whole milk; Jake & I drink organic skim, and Brian is forced to drink regular skim (because he drinks so much milk every week he has to drink the regular stuff instead of the organic...that stuff is pricy!)  So, at any given time, there were at least 3 different containers of milk in my fridge....I will happily start giving Liam skim, allowing me to cut back to just 2 different types.

He also had an ENT appointment last week (fun medical week for the kid); it was his 1 year follow up appointment, and came at a good time because he had an infection about a month ago that was terrible (we ended up having to use both drops and oral antibiotics to finally get rid of it after over a week had passed).  When we went to get that infection checked out by our pediatrician, she couldn't find the tube in his right ear, but wasn't 100% sure if it really wasn't there, or if she infection was so bad that it was causing her to not be able to see it.  Turns out, it was the former, the tube is totally gone from the right ear (left ear looks good)   So, after talking about it for awhile, the ENT decided to take a wait and see approach, and not immediately replace that tube.  She's hopeful that going into summer, he will be less likely to get infections, and we can at least make it to fall before having to do anything. Assuming he gets no other infections, we will go back in November for another follow up.

While I'm relieved of course that he doesn't have to undergo anesthesia or anything, part of me was kind of all UGH.  Because I feel like we are right back to the point of being paranoid with every runny nose and fever....it was nice with the tubes because the guess work was gone.  If his ear drained, it was an infection, no doubts about it (he had 3 infections even with the tubes, but we knew immediately each time due to the drainage).  But without that indicator, it's hard to tell. So, we're remaining hopeful that we can get through summer with no illnesses and maybe he'll even outgrow this problem by the time the next cold  and flu season rolls around.

So there you have it, our medical updates for the time being!!  Hopefully we will not be back to the doctor for another 6 months. 

Happy 18 months, Liam!!

Oh, um...hello there, blog readers.  Sorry that it's been awhile.  I find myself completely wrapped up in holiday preparation, traveling, new appliance buying (dishwasher breaking = tragedy), new car buying (say what??  yeah, that will be another post), and just work stuff in general.

But...I'm here today!  Liam had his 18 month check up yesterday, and I shall now rename him "Chunkers".  Brian says that's mean and will cause him to be in therapy later in life, but whatever.  It's a compliment at this age. 

Height: 33.5 inches (80th percentile)
Weight: 27 lbs (82nd percentile)
Head circumference: 49 cm (87th percentile)

So, yeah....Chunkers it is.  :)  To be honest, baby fat is one of the things I miss the most when they start to slim down more into the toddler years!  The little dimples, the rolls...I love it all.  I'm so glad he's still squishy. 

The appointment went well, he is right on track developmentally.  I've lost count of his words at this point, it seems like he had a major explosion a few weeks ago, and all of a sudden, can repeat nearly anything you say, and has new words that he's using on his own everyday.  He got 2 shots at the appointment, but now he's done with vaccines until he turns 4. 

It wouldn't be a post without some cute pictures!  Here is one of him, doing what he does best.....checking out his big brother, and doing the same thing!

It's been a fun 18 months, Liam!  We look forward to all of the rest.

15 months-check up and update

It's hard to believe that this time last year, my maternity leave was ending and I was heading back to work.  It's crazy how quickly the time has passed, and how much my baby has changed and grown!  I don't even know if I can use the word baby anymore: he's full-on walking as his main mode of transportation, he's attempting to climb anything that he can, he spends his days trying to keep up with his big brother, and he's getting ready to transition to the Toddler room at school.  *GULP*  I'm definitely in denial, but I think that at this point, "toddler" would be a better word to describe him.

We had his well visit last week, and he looked great.  Here are the stats:

Height: 32 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 24 lbs, 5 oz (46th percentile)
Head circumference: 48 cm (73rd percentile)

Looking back at my notes on Jake, he was 2 pounds lighter and an inch shorter at 15 months!  I am sad to report that some of Liam's chub that I love so much is starting to vanish now that he's become a professional walker.

My only concern going into the appointment was his vocabulary.  Full disclosure: I totally commit the worst parenting crime by comparing Liam to Jake all of the time. I know that you're not supposed to do this, but really, can you even help but doing it?  I have nothing else to compare to!  So of course, when I glanced back through my notes about Jake's milestones and language skills at 15 months and saw that he had closer to a dozen words (Liam has 5 or 6), I  couldn't help but worry.  The doctor assured me that Liam is still in the normal range for language development, and I'd probably find that he would just hit an explosion at some point and really take off with the talking.  Phew!  Liam's consistent words are mama, dada, ball, bubble and yum.  I have heard him say nana (referring to a banana), GG and PopPop before, but he doesn't say those on a regular basis.

His eating skills still continue to blow our minds, there are times when he honestly eats the same size portion as I do at dinner.  I have no idea where he puts it all!  I have to laugh sometimes because with Jake, we were soooo controlling over what he could and couldn't eat (cupcakes at any time aside from his birthday??  no way!  Chips, even at a party?  Yeah right!)  Well, let me just tell you how challenging it would be to keep to those same rules with Liam.....not only is he an eating machine, but he is so observant of what Jake and any other kids are eating.  Perks of being the 2nd kid, I guess!

Move over, baby Gap models!  There's a new kid in town.

Liam's 1 Year Check Up

 Liam received a great report from his 1 year check up last week!  Here are the latest stats:

Height: 30.5 inches (75th percentile!)
Weight: 22.5 lbs (50th percentile)
Head circumference: 47 cm (70th percentile)

So, he's tall, average weight, and has a slightly larger than average head :)  (must be because he has a lot of brain to store)  He was right on track with everything, the doctor was pleased to hear how well he eats, and that he's crawling normally at this point.  He agreed that we could try to wean Liam off of the reflux meds at this point, and suggested that we initially stop giving him one dose and see how that goes for 10 days or so.  If all is well, then we can drop that one, too.  So we started right away!  He didn't have his evening dose for 3 days, and he was fine. Then yesterday, we forgot about giving him his medication until almost 11am.  At that point, it wasn't bothering him, so we figured we'd give it a shot to see what happened.  good news...nothing happened!  No crying, no more spit up than usual, nothing!  YAY!  I'm not getting my hopes up just yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  You know your kid has been on medication for a long time when the pharmacist at Target knows you and your child by name.  (sorry, Katie...we'll still keep in touch!)

We also decided to cut back on his bottles last week, and even though he was pretty angry the first day according to his teachers, he was totally fine with it by the next day.  By the end of the week, he was skipping his morning bottle and content to have a snack at that time instead.  He was still taking his 3pm bottle, so they're going to cut that out this week.  I'm still nursing him in the morning and at bedtime, so we'll see where that takes us next week once he's transitioned totally out of his daytime feedings. 

Funny daycare story; Liam wasn't at school the day of his birthday, but the next day, I sent in some mini muffins for him to share with his friends during afternoon snack to celebrate.  The teachers made him a birthday crown, sang to him, then passed out the snacks at the tiny table where all of the kids sit.  Liam ate his muffin in .02 seconds, and started looking for more. There were extras, and they figured it was his birthday, so why not?  He ate muffin #2 in record time.  After that, he committed a major party foul and had to actually be removed from his own birthday celebration...he started swiping the muffins from all of his friends who were still eating (because apparently, not every baby hoovers their food right off of the table!)  Oops.  

9 month update

I know it's such a cliche, but time is going by unbelievably quickly....it's insane that Liam is over 9 months old!  Here are the stats from his check up last week:

Weight: 19 lbs, 12 oz (36th percentile)
Height: 29 inches (76th percentile!)
Head circumference:46 cm (can't remember the percentile, 60th, I think?)

Looking back at Jake's stats from this same check up, Liam has pretty much caught up with his big brother...Jake was 20 lbs even, and the exact same height.

Liam's appointment went well; the best news is, his reflux seems to be improving (finally!) and the doctor said that we would most likely be able to discuss weaning off the meds at his 12 month appointment, if not before then.  We're so excited that he might finally get some relief.  His ear infection from the week before was halfway cleared up, one was fine, the other ear was still infected.  We just finished up the antibiotic on Tuesday and his sleep is getting better, so we're hoping it's totally gone now.

He had a few patches of eczema at his last appointment, and at that time, they told us to just try some aquaphor after his bath, which seemed to help most of the time until a week ago or so, when all of a sudden, it spread all over the place (his belly, back, neck elbows, knees, ankles) and looked so much worse than before.  We've now moved onto hydrocorisone cream twice/day and that does seem to be helping for now.

He's still an enthusiastic eater; we've gone through pretty much all of the purees at this point and there are none that he's rejected thus far (and he loves yogurt).  We started puffs and mum-mums a few weeks ago, he's a big fan of both.  Just this week we started giving him some diced up peas and carrots with dinner; he was a bit hesitant at first, I think they frustrated him since they were harder to pick up, but he's getting the hang of it.  I need to be better about giving him some table foods along with purees now that he's mastering the pincher grasp. 

He babbles like crazy, and we've heard both mama and dada, which always makes me smile whether it's actually directed at me or not. He's been more interested in books (instead of just being interested in chewing on them) and he especially loves the touch and feel ones that we have.  He really likes the activity table, or anything that lets him stand, really.

He's still not crawling yet; the doctor was a bit concerned about this, mainly because he seems to have no interest in moving in any way (he has only rolled a few times, doesn't scoot or anything like that, he's quite content to just sit and take everything in).  We don't need to worry about it just yet, he wants to give it a month and see if he makes any progress by then before making any decisions. He's also "graduating" from the Infant 1 room at daycare and moving up to the next room, so I'm thinking maybe he'll be inspired once he moves over there, watching all of the other kids move around.

6 month report

We had Liam's 6 month well visit earlier this week, and everything looked great.  Here are his stats (at 6.5 months, technically):

16 lbs, 14 oz (25th percentile)
27.5 inches tall (75th percentile)
44.5 cm head circumference (50th percentile)

I looked back at Jake's stats from his 6 month appointment, and he was 17 lbs, 10 oz and 27 inches tall.  So Liam is a bit lighter, but 1/2 inch taller.

Overall, he's been very consistent in his growth and they were pleased with his development and all of that good stuff.  We discussed his reflux, which much to my dismay, has not improved.  I was really hopeful that we would be weaning OFF the meds by this point, not increasing them.  But he's still on 2.3 mL of zantac, twice per day.  We discussed the possibility of needing to see a GI specialist at Children's, but the dr. didn't feel it was totally necessary at this time, since Liam is gaining weight appropriately for his age, and the zantac is working when it's the correct dose.  He said it would be something that he would consider down the road, if we max out on the zantac dose or he were to start losing weight.  But for right now, he just doesn't feel that it would be necessary to send him there to have procedures done that probably won't tell us too much aside from just verifying that yes, he does indeed have reflux.  He said that while "most" babies start to outgrow it by 6 months, there are some who don't outgrow it until closer to 12 months; I guess we just fall into the latter category. 

On a lighter note, he has started to sit up completely unassisted!  I think I mentioned a few weeks ago that he started doing the whole "tripod" sitting with his hands in front of him....then it was just like one day out of the blue last week, I put him down on the floor, he lifted his hands, sat straight up and hasn't looked back since.  I was proud of course, but also sad in some ways since it's just one more milestone that he's reaching that means he's becoming less and less of a baby all the time.  At least he's not mobile...YET! 

Now that he is spending more time in an upright position, Jake has been excited to play with him a bit more, which is really cute.  He'll bring him a bunch of toys, line them up in front of him and start talking to him about what the toys do, he'll show him how to play with them, and reminds Liam that many of the toys were his when he was a baby :)  Here they are playing with one of Liam's Christmas gifts (thanks, Martini Family!)

We also gave him a sippy cup the other night after dinner, mostly just to see what he'd do with it.  I filled it with water and handed it to him, and after examining it for a moment, brought it up to his mouth.  At first I was impressed, thinking he was drinking it, then I realized he was using the spout as a teether :)  Hey, whatever keeps him occupied!

He's still loving his food...since I last wrote about it, we've introduced green beans, avocado, sweet potatoes and apricot.  This is what happens nearly every single night at dinner when his food is all gone and he sees me put the dish in the sink:

4 month check up and FOOD

Weight: 13 lbs, 14 oz (about the 25th percentile)
Height: 26" (75th percentile---he's tall & thin!)
Head circumference: 42.5 cm (50th percentile)

I looked back, Jake was heavier at this age (15 lbs, 3 oz) but a bit shorter (25 & 1/4 inches), so they're pretty similar in size so far.

The appointment went well, he's right on track for everything which is always reassuring to hear. He flipped from back to belly the other day, but hasn't done it since then.  He's also done belly to back a few times, but overall just doesn't seem to be too interested in rolling.

Jake had a pretty decent flat spot by this age, so I was relieved to hear that Liam's head is "beautifully rounded".  

The doctor said it would be fine to start solids whenever we felt comfortable and whenever we felt that Liam was ready.  We've had him at a chair at the table for a few weeks and while he's not swatting at our food or anything, he's certainly shown more of an interest since being up there with us.  The doctor also mentioned that many babies get relief from their reflux and less spit up once they start solids...that was all it took to convince us to give it a go!! :) My clothes and my carpeting will thank me if that's true....

He was a bit fussy most of the afternoon from his shots, so I wasn't sure if he would be all that into trying out the cereal for the first time, but I figured we could offer it and if he didn't seem interested, we'd try again next week.  Well, not only was he interested, he consumed the entire bowl of cereal, then cried when it was all gone.  SUCCESS!

In other news, we pulled out the exersaucer last weekend and said goodbye to the swing (he's never really been into it, anyway) I have to stuff a blanket around him to kind of prop him up, but he seems to enjoy it.

10 weeks today

I can't believe Liam has been here for 10 weeks (I also can't believe I go back to work in 2 weeks from today, but that's a whole other post...) We had his 2 month check up today, here are the stats:

weight: 11 lbs, 3 oz (27th percentile)
height: 23.75 inches (69th percentile)
head: 40 cm (44th percentile)

I went into today's appointment with a suspicion that he had been going through a growth spurt, considering the fact that he's been basically attached to me the last 2 nights from 5pm-10pm, constantly nursing. I think I was right...when he checked into Childrens Hospital last Friday night (so 10 days ago), he was 10 lbs, 4 oz....today he was nearly a pound bigger! I flipped back through my old posts & it looks like at this point, Jake was 12.5 lbs and 24 inches long, so just a bit bigger.

Overall, everything looked great and Liam was right on track for everything. It was also his follow up visit from the viral meningitis episode, and we're all good there, too. Phew!

I'm sorry, he has a WHAT??

An umbilical hernia?? My poor kid! Turns out, it's one of those things that sounds much worse than it actually is. Description of the condition, per Mayo Clinic:

An umbilical hernia creates a soft swelling or bulge near the navel (umbilicus). The bulge may range from less than 1/2 inch to about 2 inches (about 1 to 5 centimeters) in diameter.

If your baby has an umbilical hernia, you may notice the bulge only when he or she cries, coughs or strains. The bulge may disappear when your baby is calm or lies on his or her back.

Umbilical hernias in children are usually painless. Umbilical hernias that appear during adulthood may cause abdominal discomfort.
So, not really anything to be alarmed about, but kind of scary to see! Take a look:



The dr said it will go away by itself, usually by a year. Phew! While we were there, they adjusted his dose of medicine for his acid reflux, which is good, because I was starting to think that it wasn't the right dose anymore. The spit up has been slightly less fountain like, but is still coming out of his nose often and still causing him discomfort. Hopefully this new dose will do the trick. At 7 weeks, 2 days, he weighed 9 lbs, 15 oz. That's 1 lb, 5 oz more than when he was there 2 weeks ago, yay! I'm so happy that he's pretty much moved out of all of his newborn clothes & into the 0-3 month stuff; I had a lot more 0-3 month stuff than newborn size, and it was all so cute, I couldn't wait to have him wear it!

As I type this, he's being my assistant by hanging out on his play mat next to me on the floor. He's kicking his legs, grabbing at the toys & cooing up a storm :)

1 month check up

Technically, he's 5 weeks old, but Liam had his 1 month check up yesterday; he was 8 lbs, 10 oz and 21 inches long! So he's 1/2 inch taller than he was when he was born and 2 lbs, 2 oz bigger than he was 3 weeks ago. I can definitely stop worrying about whether or not he's gaining enough weight!

I did have some concerns going into the appointment; to sum up, he's been spitting up mass amounts after nursing (sometimes during, then immediately after, then pretty much randomly until the next feeding). And when I say spitting up, I mean a ton and often fountain-like/somewhat projectile. On top of that, he would be content for a bit, then get super fussy, spit up, and be content again after spitting up. It was heartbreaking to see, he just seemed miserable during those times. The doctor said it was most likely acid reflux and put him on zantac, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it will bring him some relief. Aside from that, he checked out perfectly and we go back next month for the first round of shots (fun, fun!)

He still sleeps most of the time, but is starting to be a bit more alert during random times of the day. His eyes have changed to be more of a darker blue/slate color, we're really curious to see what color they actually end up being. He checked out his swing for the first time this morning; he seemed to be a bigger fan of the bouncy seat.
